How an Epic Fail Lead to an Epic Reward for Jessica Simpson
Have you ever experienced an epic fail and thought you couldn’t redeem yourself from it? You feel like the word FAILURE in BIG BOLD letters is written across your forehead and you can’t do anything to wipe it away. Epic fails happen on a daily basis but at least our epic fails aren’t broadcasted live for the world to see like celebrities. One of my favorite celebrity epic fails to date and this one is a major #tbt, happens to be Jessica Simpson and Chicken of the Sea. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here’s some background information.
Picture this, 15 years ago Jessica Simpson was married to Nick Lachey, Finding Nemo was in theatres and The Florida Marlins won the World Series. 2003 was a simpler time (miss you xoxo). A time filled with mistakes and regrets. One of the mistakes was when Jessica Simpson asked the simple question which launched a thousand memes “"Is this chicken what I have, or is this fish?" she asked, confused about the fish brand name. "I know it's tuna, but it says Chicken by the Sea.” Oh Jessica, you silly girl. America fell in love with her but also bashed her abundantly. Every interview for months and years to come always came down to “is it chicken, or fish”. Simpson was obviously very embarrassed by her #epicfail that was nationally televised on her reality show Newly Weds: Nick and Jessica.
So many people laughed at her but Simpson 100% had the last laugh. Her misfortune turned into fortune. She inked a deal with ‘Chicken of the Sea’ and became their official brand ambassador. She’s also the owner of a billion dollar company, talk about redemption! Simpson also poked fun at herself last year when headlines came out that read: "Whole Foods Discovered Its Chicken Salad Actually Had Tuna". Simpson simply added the caption "It happens to the best of us @wholefoods." We stan you forever @JessicaSimpson.
